We love the color of this wine, brightly purple with reflective clarity. Big bursts of berry fruit bloom on the palate, almost like you’re tasting a violet hue. This wine is medium-full in the middle, weighty with its Cabernet Sauvignon component (it’s 50% of the overall blend.) Solid French oak influence aids the length of the finish, lingering with smoky dill and red cherry. We’ve crafted this red for easy enjoyment, drink now through 2019.
Smith Ranch, Casa de Vinas, Ghilemetti Vineyard
Harvested between September 26th and October 18th and immediately destemmed without crushing to open top bins upon arriving at the winery. Each lot was fermented separately using native/commercial yeasts with hand punchdowns spending a total of 18 day on the skins. Pressed separately with free run separated as well and blended post ML. Coopered separately in 75% new french oak, 15% neutral Franch oak, 10% neutral American for 22months (final blending after 20).
