2017 marked a big year for Chardonnay at Nottingham Cellars. We have taken our sourcing from a mix of Montery and Livermore Valley, to 100% Livermore. Now sourcing from three distinct vineyards within the valley, producing three very distinct wines, each one showcasing the immense caliber and versatility of our growing region. This 2017 Appellation Series Chardonnay is sourced from the Karl Wente vineyard, our Livermore Valley answer from the typical Riva Ranch in Monterey. Though the sourcing of the wine has changed the characteristics that you have come to know and love in our Appellation Series Chardonnay have not. A hint of flint and char on the nose opens to a bouquet of apricots, yellow apples, honey as the wine breathes and a palate that follows suit. Rich, mouthwatering and inviting with just the right amount of acid to drive the wine forward towards a long lingering finish that is sure to please even the pickiest of chardonnay drinkers.
Harvested and whole-cluster press on the morning of September 13th. Fermented in both stainless steel and french oak barrels with various yeasts. Partial lees stirring on the barrel portion with partial ml conversion.
